日本平安时代，法力强大的阴阳师安倍晴明和搭档源博雅调查一连串奇案，牵涉其中的不只人类，还有各路妖魔孽物。这部影集以原著小说设定为蓝本，加入全新剧情，献上前所未见的晴明故事。
憧憬、执念、渴望⋯⋯
人有七情六欲，但当其滋长蔓生，终至无法控制，那就是妖魔怨灵横行之时。
在昌盛繁荣的古都平安京，百姓却受到妖魔侵扰，为查清背后真相，身兼宫廷乐师的醍醐天皇之孙源博雅造访阴阳寮，在此认识了解开此谜团的不二人选：法力高强的阴阳师安倍晴明。他浑身散发一股超脱凡俗的气息，对世事似乎提不起劲，也没什么意愿想帮忙，让博雅碰了个大钉子。然而两人最后还是循线查到罪魁祸首，也将与藏身邪恶阴影中的芦屋道满正面对抗。与晴明和博雅同行的伙伴还有传授博雅笛艺的敦实亲王、天皇的阴阳师贺茂保宪，以及因缘际会之下加入他们的露子姫。一行人的情感在旅途中逐渐错综交织，晴明与博雅能够让都城的老百姓重新安宁度日吗？
